2026-07-13 - EmberScope daily work
Added the 13-field trace pattern and measured flat-sensor acceptance quantities needed for survey optimization.
Internal engineering log
This is the project's raw day-by-day engineering notebook, published for traceability. Entries use internal task IDs and optical-design shorthand, and are not edited for outside readers. For the reviewer-facing state of the project, start at the overview or the evidence summary.
Recent work

Added a COTS payload screen for the RFS-011 fleet decision.
Added a coverage-area sizing grid for the RFS-011 mission decision.
Built the F-number / aperture trade study that resolves the binding open item on the four-mirror prescription, adding the NETD~F#^2 and PSF energy-concentration physics the committed radiometry model omitted; the headline finding is that the F/5 worry is regime-dependent and the committed 200 mm plate scale is a spotter, not a survey camera.
Found and fixed two ray-tracer math errors (conic sag-gradient factor, OPD reference surface) via new analytic regression tests; re-evaluated the design of record and all multi-mirror screening artifacts; overhauled project hygiene (uv migration, ruff/mypy, CI test workflow).
Added the RFS-028 beam-obstruction gate to the multi-mirror checkpoint; reworked the public site for reviewer clarity; exported geometry artifacts and renders for the optimized prescription.
Published mission-survey storyboard handoff; first unobscured optimized four-mirror prescription.
