RFS-011 quote packet - 2026-06-20
Ask vendors for evidence that can actually close the COTS decision.
The COTS screen found viable physics branches. This packet turns those branches into a quote-ready evidence request: raw frames, calibration metadata, exact optics, integration limits, and unit-cost ceilings.
Purpose
RFS-011 still needs product evidence, not another generic camera shortlist.
The packet keeps the same 3 cm, 430 K target, 120 m reference altitude, and AUD 100k payload-budget frame as the COTS screen.
Vendor request fields
The quote request needs enough detail to rerun the model.
| Group | Fields to request | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Detector and data path | exact detector core and resolution, pixel pitch, frame rate, radiometric bit depth, raw or pre-AGC frame export, calibration metadata and NUC state, SDK/API and file formats | RFS-011 cannot close if the product only exposes display-video or post-AGC imagery. |
| Optics and survey geometry | lens focal length or EFL, horizontal and vertical field of view, F-number, lens transmission or window stack, focus setting, radiometric accuracy claim, sample image metadata | The quote has to reproduce the 3 cm target model inputs rather than swap in a generic lens option. |
| Payload integration | all-up mass, steady and peak power, mechanical envelope, mounting interface, environmental sealing, operating temperature, thermal stabilization or shutter behavior | The RFS baseline keeps the payload inside the 150 mm / 2 kg class unless a stakeholder reopens it. |
| Procurement and support | unit price at 1, 2, 3, and 5 payloads, lead time, export or reseller constraints, SDK/license cost, spares and calibration service, warranty, minimum order quantity | The coverage model converts target area into payload count and maximum unit-cost ceilings. |
| Sample evidence | sample raw/radiometric frame, metadata sidecar, dark/ambient reference frame, warm small-target example if available, known no-fire rural scene if available | A purchase decision needs evidence that can feed the validation pipeline, not only datasheet prose. |
Candidate quote order
Quote branches in priority order and reject substitutions that hide data access.
| Priority | Candidate | Model snapshot | 500 ha ceiling | 1000 ha ceiling | Must confirm | Pass condition | Failure action |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | ICI 8640 P, 25 mm lens class Closest COTS-adjacent match to the custom wide-field reference while keeping strong raw output. | 24.8 deg / F/1.0 375.4 1px SNR, 181 ha/h | 3 payloads / USD 22k | 6 payloads / USD 11k |
| Proceed as the first COTS evidence branch if the unit quote fits the chosen target-area ceiling. | Fall back to the custom reference or a parallel COTS/custom path. |
| 2 | Hadron 640R fixed module Fast integrated 640-class module that may reduce integration effort if raw export is usable. | 32.0 deg / F/1.0 166.1 1px SNR, 236 ha/h | 3 payloads / USD 22k | 5 payloads / USD 13k |
| Keep as a fast-flight branch only if the raw-data and calibration gate is explicit. | Reject as a primary payload and keep it only as integration-risk evidence. |
| 3 | 45 deg 640-class radiometric camera Representative 45 degree 640-class drone-camera path with strong first-order SNR margin. | 45.0 deg / F/1.0 105.8 1px SNR, 341 ha/h | 2 payloads / USD 33k | 3 payloads / USD 22k |
| Use as the budget-protection branch for a 500 ha, 120 m COTS-first path. | Treat the physics pass as insufficient and reopen custom or narrower COTS options. |
| 4 | 69 deg 640-class mapping camera Largest first-order coverage option, useful if RFS prioritizes single-payload coverage. | 69.0 deg / F/1.0 38.4 1px SNR, 565 ha/h | 1 payload / USD 66k | 2 payloads / USD 33k |
| Proceed only as a find-only area-survey branch with explicit false-positive testing. | Reject for the first build if wide-lens product lock-in hides calibration state. |
| 5 | ICI 8640 P, 35 mm lens class Focused-zone COTS-adjacent option that may be useful for a smaller first trial. | 17.6 deg / F/1.0 757.2 1px SNR, 127 ha/h | 4 payloads / USD 16k | 8 payloads / USD 8k |
| Use only for a focused-zone or lower-area trial where coverage is intentionally smaller. | Do not use as the default 500 ha hourly-revisit answer. |
Minimum acceptance
A quote passes only if it can feed the validation pipeline.
Gate 1
Quote names the exact product, lens, firmware/data interface, and included integration components.
Gate 2
Vendor confirms raw/pre-AGC or radiometric still-frame export with calibration metadata.
Gate 3
Detector, HFOV, F-number, and frame rate match the model row closely enough to rerun the screen.
Gate 4
All-up mass, power, and envelope fit the accepted airframe basis, or the airframe basis is reopened.
Gate 5
Unit price at the required payload count fits the target-area quote ceiling, or the budget is reopened.
Gate 6
Sample frames and metadata are sufficient for the EmberScope validation pipeline.
Meeting record
Record the selected row before treating RFS-011 as closeable.
A COTS-first stakeholder answer should name the product, target-area basis, quote ceiling, and accepting stakeholder. Without those fields, the item remains open.
- selected quote row and exact product name
- target area and altitude basis used for payload count
- quoted unit cost and required payload count
- raw/radiometric frame evidence path
- calibration metadata evidence path
- airframe mass/power acceptance
- stakeholder name, date, and source note
